E100- Beyond the Basic: Commercial SSA
Show Notes

While the US military has traditionally managed the world’s space situational awareness (SSA) database of objects orbiting Earth, the bulk of this service is being transferred to the civilian US Office of Space Commerce (OSC).  What is a “basic” tracking service that OSC could offer versus an “advanced” service that paying customers could use a commercial company for? How can commercial SSA companies help to ultimately reduce space debris? Join The Center for Space Policy & Strategy’s Carson Coursey (Georgia Institute of Technology) and Colleen Stover as they talk to Ted Muelhaupt, Aerospace consultant and world-class expert in analysis of space traffic management, space situational awareness, space safety, and space debris.

To learn more about Muelhaupt’s expertise read the NBC World News article
where he discusses the uncontrolled reentry of the Long March 5B rocket in August 2022.

The Space Policy Show is produced by The Aerospace Corporation’s Center for Space Policy and Strategy. It is a virtual series covering a broad set of topics that span across the space enterprise. CSPS brings together experts from within Aerospace, the government, academia, business, nonprofits, and the national labs. The show and their podcasts are an opportunity to learn about and to stay engaged with the larger space policy community.
